Everything the Alabama Board expects of you each renewal cycle.
24 contact hours every 2 years
Alabama uses a biennial renewal cycle. Licensees must complete 24 contact hours of board-approved continuing education in the two years preceding each renewal. Hours can be earned at any pace across the cycle.
2-hour jurisprudence requirement
At least 2 of your 24 hours must cover the Alabama Physical Therapy Practice Act and Board rules. Our Alabama Jurisprudence course satisfies this requirement and is included in every subscription — no extra fee.
Acceptable CE formats
Alabama accepts online/home-study, live in-person, and hybrid formats. There is no minimum live-hour requirement. Mastery Pathways courses are on-demand with embedded post-tests — fully compliant.
PTAs have the same requirement
Physical Therapist Assistants in Alabama also need 24 contact hours every 2 years, including the 2-hour jurisprudence course. All Mastery Pathways content is PT- and PTA-appropriate.

Common questions from Alabama PTs
Alabama PT licenses renew biennially (every 2 years) on December 31 of odd-numbered years. Your first renewal may be prorated based on when you initially licensed.
No. Alabama does not permit carry-over of excess CEUs. Hours must be earned within the current two-year cycle. That’s why we help you pace your progress rather than rush at the end.
Most states accept the same on-demand, post-test-verified format. If you’re dual-licensed, our certificates are usable for other states — though you should verify each state’s specific requirements. We currently focus exclusively on Alabama.
You do not submit hours upfront. The Alabama Board audits a random sample of renewals each cycle. If audited, you produce your certificates and transcript. Our one-click transcript export is built for this.
Your license enters lapsed status. Alabama charges late fees and may require make-up CE. To avoid this, we send reminders at 90, 60, and 30 days and flag whether you’re on track.
Yes. Our courses are designed to meet Alabama Board of Physical Therapy CE standards, including the required post-test and certificate format. The board accepts the same documentation from every approved provider.
